Shocking statistics on diabetes revealed that twenty per cent of the world's diabetics are Indians. Thirty per cent of diabetics in India are below the age of forty and that by 2025, WHO has estimated that India would have the highest number of diabetics followed by China and can be called as "diabetic capital" of world1. Since the diet remains the corner stone for diabetic patients especially non-insulin dependent diabetes, glycemic index is a concept that ranks food on the basis of their acute glycemic impact. The glycemic Index indicates the extent of rise in blood sugar in response to a food in comparison with the response to an equivalent amount of glucose. Food with low glycemic index produces small rise in blood sugar. The glycemic index of wheat, soybean and pearl millet are 70, 30 and 55 respectively2. These ingredients possess appreciable amount of protein, carbohydrate and hypoglycemic properties that will help the patients to cure hyperglycemia and are therefore suitable for diabetic diet.- Removal Kinetics and Performance Evaluation of 3D Rotating Cylindrical Anode Reactor for Textile Wastewater Treatment

The removal kinetics of a batch electrocoagulation 3D rotating cylindrical anode reactor for reactive dye effluent was investigated. The cell used a new type of electrode arrangement having a rotating 3D Al cylinder as anode and long rod of aluminium as cathode. The performance of the reactor was studied via various operating parameters, such as current density, anode rotation speed, duration of electrolysis, nature of supporting electrolyte and rate of reaction. The dye removal process in this innovative system follows a second order kinetics with maximum COD removal of 96.40% in a pH range of 6-8 and having a current density of 6 mA/cm2. The anode rotation provides the turbulence which helps in removal process.Keywords

The present study comprises physicochemical evaluation, heavy metal and minerals analysis and nutritive value of leaves of plant Boehmeria rugulosa. Physicochemical, nutritive value of leaves was done by standard methods. ICP-OES, Flame photometry and titrimetry methods was used for the heavy metals and mineral analysis. The mineral contents Na, K and Ca was found to be 53.82, 92.62 and 460.92 ppm respectively and heavy metal contents As, Pb and Cr was estimated 0.75, 2.22 and 0.68 respectively. Cd and Se concentration was negligible in leaves sample. The nutritive value of plant is 335.02 kcal/100g dry weight of leaves. The Physicochemical analysis includes Total Ash, acid insoluble ash and Loss on drying, which was shows the significant results. The present study can be used as a diagnostic tool for the standardization and identification of plant.Keywords
